What Latent is

Latent is a personal knowledge management (PKM) app for anyone who wants to think, write, and retrieve ideas without relying on the cloud for artificial intelligence.

You write notes with a full editor, connect them with @ mentions, explore how they relate in a knowledge graph, and ask them questions in natural language: the app retrieves the relevant context and Apple Intelligence answers on your device.

No AI servers. No sending your notes to third parties to generate answers.

Notes that understand each other

Rich text editor with persistent formatting, @ mentions between notes, and a clean preview. Organize by links and meaning, not rigid folders.

Semantic search

Find ideas by intent, not just exact words. A multilingual embeddings model runs on the iPhone's Neural Engine.

Knowledge graph

Visualize explicit links between notes and connections discovered through semantic similarity. A living map of your thinking.

Chat with your library

Ask about what you've written. Latent combines hybrid retrieval (lexical + vector) with on-device generation via Apple Intelligence, with citations to the source notes.

Requirements

iOS 26 or later
Apple Intelligence enabled on a compatible device
A17 Pro chip or newer (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro and later), subject to Apple Intelligence's regional availability

Latent checks at runtime whether Apple Intelligence is available. If it isn't, the app shows how to enable it or which devices are supported.
